Home Lighting Inside and Out

When you start thinking about the kind of lighting that you want for your home, don't forget to include the outside as well. Nowadays with solar and LED lighting there is no need for wires running from the inside to the outside of the house. The new lighting forms are free standing and either rely on nature to get them going or run on a small battery.

You can get LED and solar lamps in a similar style to the lighting inside your home, including floor and table lamps. Why save all the best things for inside your home when you can light up the outside at night and spend more time on the deck and in the garden.

Home makeovers take a lot of thought and can be costly, if you try to get as much done as you can in one go, then you could save yourself some time later on. So many people forget about the outside of their home during a home makeover, especially when it comes to the lighting part, yet good and attractive home lighting can make all the difference to the look of both the inside and outside of your home.

LED's can be extremely economical, they can give hundreds of hours of light and there is no energy waste as there is with incandescent lamps, which means they can light the exterior of your home for most of the night with no energy waste.

Solar lights can be a great way of getting sufficient light on your deck at night. Solar lights soak up the sunshine during the day and this can provide up to eight hours of light in the evening. You can get these lamps in similar styles to the lighting fixtures inside your home.

When you choose lampshades for the interior of your home, don't forget that choosing a single color as a theme throughout a room makes it look more of a piece. One way of doing this is if you have striped wall paper then choose one of the colors as an accent color and have cushions and light fixtures in that shade. When you use accent colors in this way you give your home more of a professionally designed look.

Table lamps can also be a great way of dividing a room into areas. If you have a large living room or den where most things are done then you can have an overhead lamp in the dining part of the room and table or floor lamps where you sit and relax. Some people choose to switch off the lighting in one part of the room when they turn it on in another.

If you have chosen to have glass shades on your indoor lighting fixtures then why not carry this through to the deck or patio? You'll be surprised at how good your outside space can look with the right kind of lighting. You don't just have to have lights outside when you have a barbecue, you can have it all the time, especially when you choose energy efficient lighting. Carrying the lighting through from the inside to the outside of your home gives your décor a more finished kind of a look.
